Before you go

Prepare for the Tour

The questions every first-time pilgrim asks — permits, visas, altitude, and etiquette — answered once, in one place.

Tibet travel permit

Every tour we run includes the Tibet Travel Permit, arranged through our Lhasa partner once your group visa is confirmed. You won't need to apply for anything separately.

Chinese group visa

Pilgrims travel to Tibet on a Chinese group visa, processed in batches ahead of each fixed departure. We collect passports in Kathmandu and handle the full submission.

Altitude & acclimatization

Most routes cross 4,500–5,000m for multiple nights, with Dolma La at roughly 5,630m on the kora. Itineraries are paced with acclimatization days — read the day-by-day plan on each tour page.

Health screening

We ask every pilgrim to complete a short fitness and medical questionnaire before booking, so our team can flag anything that needs a doctor's note ahead of the high-altitude days.

Pilgrimage etiquette

Kora walks pass chortens, mani walls, and prayer flags sacred to Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, and Bon pilgrims alike. Your guide will brief you on etiquette and photography before each sacred site.

What to pack

Layered clothing for a 4,500m+ plateau, a good sleeping bag, and sun protection matter more than technical trekking gear. Each tour's Prepare tab has a full packing list.

Travel insurance

Insurance covering high-altitude evacuation (to at least 6,000m) is required for every pilgrim — we can point you to providers that cover the Tibetan plateau.

Weather in Tibet

May–October is the practical season; conditions shift fast at altitude even in summer. Best-season guidance is listed on each tour.

Cancellation policy

Because group visas and permits are batch-processed, cancellation terms are stricter than a typical tour. Full terms are on each tour's pricing tab.

Every tour page has route-specific detail

Permit costs, packing lists, and traveler information are also published on each tour's own page — tailored to that route's duration and altitude profile.
